Mnemosyne publishes accessible, rigorously researched essays about archaeology, material culture, landscapes, and the people whose lives survive through them. Each article begins in a private research encyclopedia and is reconsidered for a public audience: not merely shortened, but reshaped around objects, places, evidence, and interpretation.

Named for the Greek goddess of memory, Mnemosyne is concerned with how the past is recovered, represented, disputed, and remembered. Its articles distinguish what is known from what is inferred, and what remains open to debate.

Mnemosyne is written and illustrated by Sebastian Olmsted, an archaeologist whose work centres on medieval landscapes, geographic information systems, and the interpretation of material evidence.
